Updating Olgrun

It’s been a while, so I thought a quick update was in order. I’m now busy editing Olgrun. Progress is slow because I’ve been away and a little preoccupied with other things of late. What has come as no surprise is how much I’m restructuring the speech and reformatting the sentences. This also happened when I recently edited Dragon King. I guess it’s because I’ve written three novels now and my style has changed. Perhaps I’ve improved a little over time and what I’m reading now no longer flows as well as it should. There’s certainly more depth being added to the conversation, so the novels are getting a little larger.

It’s frustrating, after so much work I’ve already done, to find myself doing it all again. I hope that I’m eventually satisfied with the results. With a little luck this work will not go without reward. Not just because the end product will be better, but because there’s a chance that a literary agent might like what I’ve created. Time will tell.

I’m at about page 80 at the moment, so there’s a long way to go. In the end all three books will be as ready as I am capable of getting them. I’ll keep working until I’m done (in every sense of the word). It has really struck home that writing a novel might be the easy bit. Editing the work into a coherent flowing novel is the part that I really struggle with.

Oh well, that’s it for now.
